Member list

Everyone enrolled in the school's groups, with search, group filter and sorting.

Ask Classy

Step by step

  1. 1

Open Users from the Admin Actions menu.

  2. 2

Pick a group, or type a name, phone number or group in the search box.

  3. 3

Press a row to open that member's profile.

How it works

Shows who attends the school, which groups they are in and when they joined, and is the way into each member's profile.

The list is on the Users page of the admin dashboard. Every enrolled person has their own row: a parent who attends a group themselves and each enrolled child are separate rows. A parent whose children attend but who is in no group themselves has no row of their own, you reach them through the child's row.

Search, filter, sort and page are kept in the page address, so refreshing or pressing back returns you to the same view. A link to a person from elsewhere in the dashboard (for example their name on a group page) lands here, already searched for the name, and opens their profile.

An employee limited to their own groups only sees members of those groups.

Good to know

The Contact column is only shown to the owner and to employees with the View member contact details permission.

The Add member and Join Link buttons only appear if the school has at least one group and you have the Manage members permission. On a phone they are two icons at the top of the screen.

On this screen

Add member button

Opens the window for adding a member without an account.

For people who attend the school but don't use the app.

Opens the Add a member without an account window. See the separate article on adding a member.

"Create your organisation's first group" card

The message you see while the school has no groups.

Explains why you can't add or invite members yet.

Members are always enrolled into a group, so with no group the Join Link and Add member buttons are hidden. The owner also sees a Create a group button that opens the school's groups page.

Create a group button

Opens the school's groups page.

Takes you to where you create the first group.

Only the school's owner sees it.

Group filter

All Groups

Shows only the members of a chosen group.

Lets you quickly see who is in a given group.

It starts on All Groups. Pick a group to keep only the rows of members in it. Changing the filter takes you back to page one.

Sort

By Name

Orders the list by name, by parent or by age.

Helps you find someone or see children by age.

Options:

  • By Parent Name: by the parent's (account holder's) last and first name.
  • By Name: by the row's own name (the child or the adult). This is the default.
  • By Age: children first, oldest to youngest, then adults.

Rows per page

Show

Chooses how many members are shown per page.

Lets you see more people at once.

Choose 10, 25 or 50 per page. The default is 10. On a phone the choice is not shown, the list there just scrolls. Changing it takes you back to page one.

Member search

Search members...

Searches by name, parent's name, phone number or group.

Finds a specific person in the list quickly.

Results update shortly after you stop typing. The search ignores upper and lower case and matches the row's name, the parent's name, the phone number and group names.

Member table

The members' rows and their columns.

Shows the key details of each enrolled person on one row.

Pressing a row (or the name and picture) opens the member's profile at the side. On a phone the table becomes a list: each row is compact, with a picture, name, a Kid or Parent tag (an adult with no kids has no tag), the age and the parent's name for a kid or the phone number for an adult (with the contact permission), and up to three groups, with the rest shown as "+N". The groups there are only labels, pressing the row opens the profile.

If nothing matches your search or filter you see "No members found matching your search."

If the list fails to load you see "Failed to load organization members. Please try again."

Member column

The member's name, picture and type.

Shows who the row is and whether they are a kid, a parent or an individual.

A label sits next to the name: Kid (with their age, e.g. "(8y)", when it is known), Parent (an adult with children) or Individual (an adult with no children). Below the name is a Copy ID button (wider screens only).

"No app account" icon

A small icon next to a member the school added without an account.

Marks the people who don't use the app and get no notifications.

Hover over the icon to see the explanation. On a child's row the icon sits next to the parent's name when the parent has no account.

Copy ID button

Copies the unique identifier of the member's account.

Useful when you need to point to exactly who someone is, for example when contacting support.

After pressing it the label reads Copied! for 2 seconds. On a child's row it copies the parent's account identifier.

Parent column

The parent of the child on the row.

Shows whose child it is and takes you to the parent's profile.

On a child's row it shows the parent's name; press it to open the parent's profile. An adult's row shows a dash. The column isn't shown on a phone.

Contact column

The member's phone number.

Lets you quickly see how to reach someone.

Shows the account holder's phone number, or a dash if there is none. Without the View member contact details permission the column isn't shown at all and phone numbers aren't sent to your device.

Groups column

The groups the person on the row is enrolled in.

Shows where the member attends and links to each group's page.

Each group is a chip, press it to open the group. Wider screens show the first three groups as links. A phone also shows the first three, as plain labels, plus "+N" for the rest. The person's profile lists them all.

Join Date column

The date the member joined the school.

Shows how long someone has been with the school.

Only shown on wider screens.

Pagination

Showing

Moving between pages of the list.

Lets you browse a long list in parts.

Below the table it reads, for example, "Showing 1 to 10 of 42 results". The buttons take you to the first, previous, a specific, next and last page. On a phone there are only arrows and "2 / 5", and with a single page the arrows are hidden.
