How it works

Lets you decide who gets into the school's private groups.

A request is created when someone asks to join a private group, or uses a Request link for a private group. Staff who can reach that group get a "new join request" notification, and the number of waiting requests shows next to Users in the menu.

The Pending Join Requests section sits above the member list, only when there are requests waiting and you have the Manage members permission. An employee limited to their own groups only sees requests for those.

Approve puts the person in the group straight away; Decline closes the request. Either way the person is notified.

Good to know

There's no confirmation, it happens straight away.

Once every request is handled, the section disappears.

On this screen

Pending Join Requests table

The list of waiting requests, 5 per page.

Shows who's waiting for approval and for which group.

The number of requests is next to the heading. Columns are Member, Groups and Request Date (the last only on wider screens). Pressing the name opens the person's profile page. Above the table there's only a sort dropdown.

Request for a child

By

How a request a parent filed for a child looks.

Shows that the child, not the parent, will join the group.

The child's name is on top with a Kid label, and below it reads "By: " and the parent's name. A parent enrolling several children has a separate request for each.

Request sorting

By Parent Name

Orders the requests on the current page.

Helps you find a request among those shown.

It starts on By Parent Name: by the requester's first name. Sorting only affects the requests on the current page.

Approve button

Lets the person into the group.

Enrols the person (or child) into the group they asked to join.

Takes effect straight away, with no confirmation. While it runs, that request's buttons are disabled. The request disappears, the list returns to page one, the menu counter updates, and the person gets a "request approved" notification.

Decline button

Declines the request.

Closes the request without the person joining the group.

Takes effect straight away, with no confirmation. The request disappears, the menu counter updates, and the person gets a "request declined" notification. They can send a new request later.
