How it works
Gives you control over who enters your private groups, nobody becomes a user before you approve them.
Requests only exist for private groups, in public groups people join straight away. A request is sent when someone presses Request to Join on the group's page or opens an invite link of the Request type for a private group. A parent can send a request for themselves or for a child. A request for a child doesn't count as the parent's own request.
As soon as a request arrives, the owner, staff with access to all groups and staff assigned to the group get a "New join request" notification (the New Join Requests type). The number of pending requests also shows next to Users in the menu.
Requests are no longer shown on the group's page. You approve or decline them in the Pending Join Requests section of the Users page, with Approve and Decline buttons. You need the Manage members permission, and the group has to be within your reach.
On approval the person (or child) becomes a user of the group, the enrolled count goes up and the group's Members list refreshes. If the group has plans that automatically include its users, the matching charges are issued to the new user straight away. The sender gets a "Request approved" or "Request declined" notification.
Good to know
A group can't be deleted while it has pending requests.
The details of the requests table are in the section about users in the admin area.
On this screen
“New join request” notification
The notification staff get for a new request.
“New join request” notification
The notification staff get for a new request.
Tells you straight away that someone is waiting for approval.
It includes the requester's (or child's) name and the group name. The owner, staff with access to all groups and staff assigned to the group receive it. Staff limited to other groups don't. In notification settings the type is called New Join Requests.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the requests for my group?
Requests are in **Users**, not on the group's page. The section only shows when there are pending requests and you have **Manage members**.
Can someone enter a private group without approval?
Yes, if they use an invite link of the **Direct** type: it adds the person straight away, even to a private group.
