Saying you'll attend
How a parent or member says from the calendar whether they or their child will come to a session.
Ask ClassyStep by step
- 1
Open the school's Calendar tab.
- 2
Click the session.
- 3
On the row with your name or your child's name, press Attending or Not Attending.
How it works
Tells the school who is coming so it can prepare. When the session has a limit, a confirmed answer takes a spot.
Open a session in the Calendar tab. At the bottom of the window there is a row for each person on your profile who can attend, with Attending and Not Attending buttons.
- For a group session, only the people in your family (you and/or your children) who are members of that group are shown.
- For a whole-school session, every child on your profile is shown; if you have no children added, you are.
The pressed button turns green or red and the choice is saved straight away. You can change your answer but not clear it completely. If saving fails, the choice goes back to what it was.
Answering locks before the start. How long before is up to the school (1 hour by default): the app then shows Sign-up is locked 1 hour before the event., and after the start This event has already taken place. The school can also switch this off entirely, and then the buttons are not shown.
Good to know
If the session has a limit and the places are taken, pressing Attending is refused. Saying you won't attend is always possible.
Answering is optional, the school records actual attendance separately.
You get reminders about the upcoming session even if you haven't answered. Only someone who pressed Not Attending for the session doesn't get them.
Staff don't see these buttons, they see the answers on the Attendance page.
On a cancelled session the buttons aren't shown.

When less than the time the school has set remains before the start, you see for example Sign-up is locked 1 hour before the event. The time is written in minutes, hours or days, depending on the school's setting. After the start time you see This event has already taken place. In both cases the buttons are disabled.

Decides whether parents and members see the Attending and Not Attending buttons in the session window.
It is in Organisation settings (opened from the school picker in the sidebar), in the Scheduling group, in the Attendance answers section. Only the school owner sees this section and can change it. The change saves straight away and applies to all sessions: when it is off, the buttons are not shown at all. It is on by default.

In the same Attendance answers section you pick one option: Until the session starts, 30 minutes, 1, 2, 6 or 12 hours, 1 or 2 days before. The default is 1 hour before. After the chosen moment members can no longer set or change their answer, and the session window tells them sign-up is locked. The options are disabled while marking attendance is switched off. Your choice saves straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I see Neither you nor your children are members of this group.?
The session is for a group that nobody on your profile is currently a member of. If you think that's wrong, contact the school.
Why don't I see the **Attending** and **Not Attending** buttons?
The school has switched off members marking their own attendance. On a cancelled session the buttons aren't shown either.
Why are the buttons disabled?
The session is closer to its start than the time the school has set (1 hour by default) or has already started. The answer can no longer be changed.
