How attendance uses pack credits

When an attendance mark uses a credit from the member's pack, which pack it comes from, and what happens if the member has none.

Ask Classy

Connects attendance with billing: on sessions sold as attendance packs, each recorded visit lowers the member's remaining credits without you doing it by hand.

Credits are only used on sessions with Counts toward packs turned on (set when creating the session in the calendar).

  • When you mark a member Here, one credit is used straight away.
  • The credit comes first from a pack for one of the session's groups, then from a whole-school pack, whichever expires soonest. A pack for a different group is only used if the session's groups don't sell a pack of their own.
  • If the member has no suitable active pack, the visit is counted as owed and taken from the next pack they buy.
  • If you change the mark to Not here, the credit goes back to the same pack it came from.
  • Finalize attendance uses a credit for anyone marked here who hasn't had one used yet. A member never pays twice for the same session.

In the session panel, each member's name has a coloured icon showing their pack status.

Good to know

The caption under Finalize attendance and the tooltips say a credit is used on finalizing. In practice it is already used at the Here mark; finalizing only catches anyone missed.

Marks from the Grid and Mark everyone attended use credits too.

On this screen

Green N credits left icon

{{count}} credits left

The member has an active pack with credits left.

Shows how many visits the member still has.

The number is the total credits left across all the member's active packs. Hover or tap the icon to see 'One credit is used when attendance is finalized.'

Red Owes N visits icon

Owes {{count}} visits

The member attended sessions without an active pack.

Shows you the member's debt before you mark them again.

It shows when the member has no active pack but has owed visits. The tooltip reads 'Taken from the next pack they buy.'

Yellow No active pack icon

The member has no active pack and no owed visits.

Warns you a Here mark will count as a visit owed.

The tooltip reads 'Attending is counted as a visit owed once attendance is finalized.' You may want to remind the member to buy a pack.

Frequently asked questions

I marked a member here by mistake. Do they lose a credit?

Change the mark to **Not here**: the credit goes back to the same pack. If attendance is finalized, press **Reopen attendance** first.

What happens if a child comes without a pack?

The visit is counted as owed. **Owes N visits** shows next to their name, and the owed visits are taken automatically from the next pack bought.
