Accepting the school's contract

Why a school asks you to accept a contract and what happens if you decline for now.

Ask Classy

Step by step

  1. 1

Read the contract in the window, or download it with Download.

  2. 2

Tick "I have read the contract and accept it."

  3. 3

    Press Accept.

How it works

Some schools upload a contract their members must read and accept. Accepting it gives you access to the school's pages.

The window appears when you open a school where you or your child is a member, if the school has uploaded a contract you haven't accepted yet. It covers every tab of the school and its group pages, until you accept, you can't use them. The school's owner and visitors who aren't members yet don't see it. If you first have to accept the updated Classes terms, those are shown before the contract.

The contract is shown inside the window, page by page, and you can scroll through it. If it can't be drawn, a built-in document preview is used instead, and you can always download it. Tick "I have read the contract and accept it." and press Accept. Acceptance is recorded for your account and also covers your children at that school.

If the school uploads a new version, the window appears again, worded as an updated contract.

Good to know

The window has no X button. If you aren't ready, press Not now, back to my schools: you'll be asked again the next time you open the school.

If the document doesn't display in the window, download it with Download and open it on your device.

On this screen

Accept the contract of [school] window

The blocking window for accepting the contract.

Shows you the contract and records that you accepted it.

At the top it reads "To keep using [school], you need to read and accept the organisation's contract." or, if you accepted an earlier version, "[school] has updated its contract. To continue, read the new version and accept it." Below is the document itself, the file name and the version number (Version N).

Download link

Downloads a copy of the contract.

Lets you keep the contract, or read it if it doesn't display in the window.

It sits on the right below the document. Downloading does not accept the contract. If the document can't be displayed in the window, this is how you read it.

I have read the contract and accept it checkbox

I have read the contract and accept it.

Confirms you have read the contract.

Unlocks the Accept button.

Until it is ticked, Accept is inactive. If accepting fails, the tick is cleared and you need to tick it again.

Accept button

Accepts the version of the contract shown.

Records your acceptance and closes the window so you can use the school.

Exactly the version you are looking at is accepted. If the school has uploaded a new one in the meantime, you see "The contract changed in the meantime. We loaded the new version, please read and accept it." For any other error you see "Could not accept the contract. Please try again."

Not now, back to my schools button

Leaves the school without accepting the contract.

Makes sure you're never stuck if you aren't ready to accept.

Takes you to the page for finding a school. Nothing is recorded, the next time you open the school the window shows again. Your group memberships don't change.
