Deleting an announcement

How to remove a published announcement from the school's feed.

Step by step

    Open Announcements under Admin Actions in the menu.

    Press the Delete announcement bin icon at the top of the card.

  3. 3

    In the Delete announcement window press Delete.

How it works

Removes the announcement for everyone, along with its comments, files and "seen" marks, when it was posted by mistake or is no longer relevant.

The delete button (bin) is at the top of the card and is shown to staff with the Publish announcements permission. Only the announcement's author can actually delete it, trying on someone else's shows an error.

You are asked to confirm first. Afterwards the announcement disappears from the feed and from the Pinned section. People who were already notified about it don't get another notification.

The button is only on the Announcements page in the admin area, not in the school's tab.

Good to know

There is no way in the app to bring back a deleted announcement. If you only want to change it, use Edit announcement.

Delete announcement button (bin)

The bin icon on the card that starts deletion.

Opens the delete confirmation. Pressing it alone deletes nothing.

Shown to staff with the Publish announcements permission. It is disabled while the announcement is being deleted.

The confirmation before the announcement is deleted.

Protects against deleting by accident.

Says "This will remove {{title}} from the announcement feed." with the announcement's name. Cancel closes the window with no change. Delete removes the announcement; while that happens the button reads "Deleting...", and on success the window closes. If the announcement was open with its comments, that window closes too.

Delete button in the confirmation

Removes the announcement for good.

Carries out the deletion.

Removes the announcement from the feed for everyone. If you are not its author, an error appears and the announcement stays.

Cancel button

Closes the window without deleting.

Leaves the announcement unchanged.

Closes the confirmation. Disabled while deletion is in progress.
